Ayurveda, modern experts, and elderly people – all know the secret to a healthy body. It’s a healthy digestive system. Thankfully, there are tons of home remedies, especially teas, to help you out with tummy problems. There’s tea for digestion, tea for bloating, and even tea for constipation.

That’s right! You no longer have to depend on smoke to help your bowel movements.

But before that, let us understand the significance of tea in the cause of constipation.

Why Use Constipation Teas Among Several Other Possible Treatments?

● Teas are easy to add to the diet.

It’s tough to make a habit of anything. If your doctor suggests any medication, you
may forget that without reminders because you don’t have the habit.

If the dietician tells you to add or remove certain food products from your diet, but you have had a busy life at your job or home, it may get problematic to act on the changes. But since you already might have a habit of drinking tea, you can use that for hydration.

● They are hydrating.

When you stay hydrated, your intestines get lubricated. The moisture stays in your stool, making excretion simple. With certain herbs having electrolytes, you maintain electrolyte imbalance too.

That’s necessary to become some electrolytes like sodium to help the kidneys retain water. If sodium gets unbalanced, kidneys might not retain water, and this may lead to watery stools.

In the opposite scenario, they may retain excess water, leaving none for the intestines to avoid constipation.

● Herbs in teas can act as laxatives.

Many teas have laxative herbs like senna and cascara in them. Being packed in a teabag these teas have a healthy amount of laxative herbs. Ensuring that is a little difficult when you consume these laxatives as supplements on your own.

Ensuring the correct amount is necessary because an excess in the stimulation of bowel movements can lead to diarrhea.

Tea for constipation

Here Are 8 Teas For Constipation Problem To Run Away in No Time

1. Ginger Tea

Ginger is good for your overall health because it boosts your immunity. But it’s especially great for gut health since it promotes motility in your digestive tract. Thus, making it easier to go to the bathroom and win the battle against constipation.

The gingerol in ginger also helps with its antioxidants that keep harmful bacteria at bay, fight free radicals, and help detoxify.
With such properties, a cup of ginger tea for constipation every day is a perfect way to regulate your bowel movements.

2. Green Tea

The effects of strictinin, a component present in green tea, were investigated in a 2016 animal study. The researchers found that rats given strictinin had a better laxative effect than others. They discovered that strictinin boosted the rats’ small intestinal movement. Therefore, causing them to defecate more.

If green tea works on humans the same way, you have an effective constipation tea to try. Even if it doesn’t work as a laxative, the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of green tea help keep your digestive environment healthy.

3. Dandelion Tea

Dandelion tea stimulates the formation of bile in the liver. It’s an essential component of the digestive process which alerts the body to break down meals into nutrients and waste. Thus, assisting in the initiation of regular bowel motions.

When you choose dandelion tea as your regular tea for constipation, you also get to take advantage of its natural diuretic nature. This can aid in the treatment of constipation.

4. Black Tea

Black tea is rich in caffeine with the most amount when compared to any other tea. This caffeine has laxative properties that can help trigger stimulation in your intestines. Thus, helping stool pass more smoothly.

Additionally, black tea has antioxidants that help detoxify and break down the food.

5. Senna Tea

According to some studies, senna may aid in the relief of constipation by stimulating the digestive system to break down and pass food. The stimulant laxative gradually supports correct digestion, easing constipation symptoms.

You should be aware that adding honey to this tea for constipation may improve its effectiveness. Because of the bitter flavor of senna tea, people recommend adding a sweetener like honey.

6. Chamomile Tea

Chamomile tea has calming effects and may aid in the relief of constipation by relaxing stomach muscles. The tea relieves inflammation and cramps. Thus, allowing the digestive system to resume healthy food movement.

To assist in easing your digestive system, drink a cup of chamomile tea at the end of each day or after each meal.

In addition, this tea for constipation will help you relax and get rid of your regular day’s stress as well. Isn’t that the icing on the cake?

7. Turmeric tea

In a 2008 study in Japan, individuals who ate turmeric-infused foods had a faster intestinal transit time. This meant they had less constipation. Turmeric is a natural laxative. Plus, it has anti-inflammatory characteristics that keep the digestive system healthy and uninflamed.

So, when you add a cup of turmeric tea to your daily routine (we suggest evenings), you can ensure your tummy is well-functioning. And stool passes smoothly in the mornings. Thus helping you have peaceful days!

8. Cascara tea

Cascara sagrada, the primary component in cascara tea, is a stimulating laxative. It acts by inducing intestinal muscular spasms. These muscle spasms assist in the passage of feces through the intestines.

Also, the anthraquinones in cascara bark give it its color and laxative effect. These substances stimulate the bowels by interacting with bacteria in the intestines.

It is a serendipitous moment when unplanned tea events result in a beneficial aftereffect. When Teafloor was established, it wasn’t just to sell tea leaves acquired from the most authentic gardens. The true purpose behind Teafloor was to create a platform where people could share their love for tea with each other. We aimed to acquaint people with the vastly volatile world of tea, how the flavours balance and the journey of the tea leaf from a garden’s bush to the cup of a drinker. We always strive to build a community around the tea culture where people can express their love and fondness for this beverage and share their experience over the perfectly balanced cup of tea.

Every day, the Teafloor family grows. Not just in terms of those who work behind the scenes, but also those who buy their blends from us. Thanks to our active participation in various tea events, we have garnered a loyal audience of tea enthusiasts who actively share their feedback about their best-loved blends.

Tea Events that Help Build a Better Community

There are many kinds of events that we as a brand participate in, and almost all events bear fruitful results which help us connect with various brands and consumers every day. Some of those events include:

  1. Corporate Events

From holding tea tasting sessions in co-working spaces to tea events at co-living communities, we’ve done it all. Our hardworking business development team actively holds tea tasting sessions in corporate companies like Maruti, HCL Technologies, Personiv, Regus etc. Similarly, we’ve had the opportunity of hosting co-working and community living spaces like CoHo, My Awfis, Ideashacks Coworking, WeWork, GoWork etc. It is always an endearing sight when the youth of our corporate sector takes some time out to indulge in our wellness teas, sipping them through conversations.

  1. Tea Festivals

The sight of a festival is always one to behold. The crowd is diverse, the music is mellow and the fragrance of food and beverages adorn the air. Food festivals in India particularly entertain a vast variety of vendors, including tea sellers like Teafloor. Missing out an opportunity to connect with tea lovers at such tea events is never an option for us. This brings us to our experience at fests like Horn Ok Please (JLN, New Delhi), The FLEAstival- Pre Diwali Edit at Cyber Hub (Gurugram) and the LBB x Hot N Spicy Food Fest (DLF Promenade, New Delhi). Not only were these exuberant fests a chance to engage with tea junkies, but also an opportunity to establish relationships with other brands that complement our venture to create a large community around our beloved beverage.

  1. Tea Conventions

Expos and conventions are another world-wide affair that one cannot miss. These tea events not only allow us to meet new brands but also learn from them. Conventions are the best opportunities that come our way to establishing long term relationships with clients. One of our best experiences of Teafloor was at the Toronto Tea Festival in Canada. The chilly month of February 2019 is one that our brand can never forget for this was our first step into the international market. We were not only embraced warmly by the locals, but it also encouraged us to further expand our horizons internationally. This resulted in us participating in The MOSAIC fest in Regina, Canada, that also gave us a chance to represent our culture and country internationally.

  1. Community Tea Festivals

Maybe one of the most basic approaches to building our community of tea lovers is through community tea festivals. Considering India’s vast cultural diversity, there are local fests and exhibitions popping up on the occasion of any and every festival. Embracing community tea events gives us a chance to meet people from all age groups, especially those that run a household successfully. Such events, held in prominent residential societies of Delhi NCR, allow us to not just re-introduce the longtime household favourites like CTCs, but also help us acquaint the local populace with various varieties of teas like green tea, white tea, wellness teas, flavoured teas etc.

Teafloor Tea Events

The Most Loved Brews at Tea Events

As a tea company, it’s against our morals to discriminate against any flavour of tea, but we have to mention the prize winners in terms of our audience’s preferences. It is also to be noted that these popular tea blends were crowned on not just their taste, but also the requirement of the locals in different areas and professions.

Our Wellness tea range, ChaiSpa, was undoubtedly the winner of hearts in corporate events. The corporate sector of India is a tireless and hard-working community, which constantly requires a means to relax and unwind. The stress and fatigue that come with working for a corporation can be dissipated with the help of our various blends in ChaiSpa. For ChaiSpa, this prize-winning moment is a glorious one for it allowed us to better understand the needs of the people these days and how we can further improve our products that tackle day to day life problems.

Through community events that are held in societies, we learnt that Black tea and CTC was the kind of tea that would forever reign the hearts of the locals. Though other types were embraced warmly as well, nothing worked better for these locals than a hot cup of cutting chai or an on-the-go ginger tea.

And then there were the unsurprising winners in our flavoured blends like Lemon Mojito Iced Tea, Pomegranate Green Tea, Aam Panna Iced Tea etc. The feedback on such flavours was astounding even for us, for the locals at conventions and fests were not only impressed by their blending techniques, but also the flavours that combine the grassiness of green tea with that of refreshing flavours like orange, lemon, pineapple, cranberry, strawberry etc.

Our Future Tea Event Participations

Teafloor is on a path of constant growth. As mentioned earlier, we want to build a community of tea lovers and enthusiasts who not only share a love for this brew, but also their knowledge about it. Tea is not just a beverage but a world-renowned culture which has encouraged people to embrace their centuries-old traditions and bring them back in the quirkiest ways possible.

We are constantly organising tea tasting sessions at popular corporates in the NCR region and are also approachable for future collaborations. Let’s walk together in this exploratory journey of the unique ‘life beverage’ we call tea, steep-by-steep.

Person: PRAVEEN PATHAK

I am from Delhi but I am working in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. The temperature here is mostly low due to which I suffer from dry cough and cold constantly. Sometimes it is humid while sometimes it is dry here. Though I am not very fond of medicines, I have been eating them regularly for the past three months. However, my condition hasn’t improved much. Do you have any tea that can help? I want a tea that is a natural remedy.

Our suggestion:

Hi Praveen,
Thank you for talking with us. We hope you are feeling better now.
Kangra is most certainly humid at this time of the year. It is quite possible the weather is not suiting you there. Cough and cold affect the productivity and overall performance of a person, especially who is working. It may cause irritability too, if it prolongs over a period of time.

The reason for the cough and cold could be anything, from viral infection to allergy. Dry cough is caused by a number of reasons such as intake of dry cold air, air pollution, inhalation of dust and smoke, irregular temperature changes, etc.
You must drink sufficient fluids and keep yourself hydrated. Also, avoid alcohol and beverages with caffeine as it will only worsen your condition.

We have a range of ChaiSpa’s wellness teas which have various health benefits. We suggest you take ChaiSpa’s Tulsi Ginger tea to relieve your cough and cold. None of the teas of Teafloor have added artificial flavours in it. We would suggest you take at least three cups of Tulsi Ginger tea every day. The ingredients of the tea are good for cough, cold and congestion in the lungs. Tulsi has healing properties to cure fever and respiratory disorders. Ginger, on the other hand, has high levels of vitamin C. It helps to reduce respiratory problems, boosts immunity and relieves stress. The combination of both will definitely give you some relief and you may consume it while you are taking medications. Just keep in mind, not to mix them, give a gap of at least 30-40minutes.

Other than this, Teafloor also has other loose tea blends like Tulsi Green tea, Kadak masala and Kashmiri Kahwa that are helpful in curing cough and cold. You may also try these.

Name: Kadambari Singh

Message/ Concern

I recently moved to Varanasi for my Masters in Psychology. The current move has left me feeling restless and sleepless, because neither the city feels familiar, nor the bed I sleep in. Sometimes, it takes me hours to fall asleep just because I begin scrutinizing every detail of my day. I have heard green tea helps with easing the mind and body. So, if you have any suggestion, please do help.

The Cure

Dear Kadambari,
Thank you for writing to us about your concern. Moving to a new city can give you the anxiety of being a stranger in a city full of people. A lot of times, you end up feeling alone even when you are constantly surrounded by people. Such anxiety and loneliness can leave you feeling restless and sleepless, like in your case. Though we cannot give you a straight answer on how to eliminate this feeling of alienation in a single day, because that solution doesn’t exist, we can give you a way to ease up and slowly blend this change of environment into your life.

It is true that green tea is a wonderful beverage to consume to calm the body, mind and soul. Therefore, we would like to suggest two of our signature blends of the ChaiSpa range- Ananda and Nidra. A cup of Ananda, that contains ashwagandha, rose and passion flower- either in the morning or in the afternoon- will help ease out the stress and anxiety you feel while going about your day. Similarly, a cup of Nidra, which comes with the power of chamomile, passion flower and lavender, will help you sleep better.

We hope that our tea can help you adjust to this new life. And always remember to be open to the mystery and magic that your new beginnings in Varanasi bring to you.

Last year, we received a simple question from Tanya Nayyar asking which tea can help her lose weight and improve her digestion.

Surprisingly, we recently received a mail from her wherein, she took the initiative to narrate her true story with us and we made it a point to give voice to her words.

Here’s what she said…

People who obsess over physical fitness tend to overlook that mental health is equally essential. My story is about the insecurities, flaws and demotivation that every person who has ever been overweight has to go through. Not everyone can relate, but being a fat girl, growing up in a sophisticated family is neither a fairy tale nor a piece of cake. From friends and relatives to your own family members, every Tom, Dick, and Harry finds a way to ridicule you. There came a phase in my life when all this took a toll on my mind and I started feeling hopeless and unproductive, and I began to hate my own body. At that point, I could do anything to lose weight. Without thinking too much I took Teafloor’s kind advice and incorporated Trupti- a green tea for after meal digestion, in my diet schedule. I became so determined to lose weight that tea and exercise became inseparable parts of my life. Astonishingly, after 6 months of hardcore workout and sipping Trupti three times a day, my weight dropped down from 72 to 60 kg.

Honestly, I never knew that I’d come this far. This transformation gave me the courage to fight against all odds and face the world with confidence. Today, my weight is 52 kg and the people who once bullied me for my weight now not only appreciate my uphill battle, but also admire my transformation. Gradually, my older version will be removed from everybody’s mind but one thing that I can never eliminate from my schedule is a cup of Trupti, my after meal drink.

This was my story, I’m sure there are many like me and to them my advice would be to hang in there and have faith in yourself as well as Teafloor’s advice.
